About Houston Criminal Defense Attorney David Smith, Owner & Founder

David Smith is a former Brazoria County prosecutor who gained valuable experience as a felony prosecutor and Chief of the Misdemeanor Division.  David tried over 100 cases to a jury, including some of the most serious offenses in Texas, such as Murder, Burglary of a Habitation, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Sexual Assault, & Driving While Intoxicated.  David knows how prosecutors think and how they review evidence.

After completing the prerequisites and successfully passing the rigorous Criminal Law Board Certification exam, David Smith became Board Certified, Criminal Law — Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2015.

In 2016, David successfully completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Participant DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Course.

David received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center in 2005, where he excelled at Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.  During law school, David gained valuable insight into jury selection and courtroom experience while working as one of the paid legal interns at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
