Celebrating Three Years of Fighting for Clients

Three years ago, I opened the doors to the David Smith Law Firm with a simple purpose: to build a criminal defense practice where every client receives serious preparation, personal attention, and a defense tailored to what is actually at stake in their life.

Today, as we celebrate our third anniversary, I’m proud of what we’ve built—and even more grateful for the people who have trusted us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Over the last three years, we have represented clients throughout the Houston area facing everything from DWI and drug charges to assault, family violence, prostitution-related offenses, and serious felony accusations.

We’ve achieved dismissals, no-bills, ALR victories, favorable resolutions, and not-guilty verdicts. We’ve taken cases to trial when that was the right decision, and we’ve challenged the government’s evidence—from breath and blood testing to laboratory analysis, police investigations, and witness testimony.

But our work has never been only about case results.

At the David Smith Law Firm, we believe in doing well by doing good.

To us, that means building a successful law firm by doing meaningful work for people when they need it most. It means treating clients with dignity, preparing every case seriously, giving people honest advice, and never forgetting that behind every case number is a person, a family, a career, and a future.

We believe that if we do right by our clients, serve our community, and uphold the responsibilities that come with practicing criminal law, the success of the firm should follow from that—not the other way around.

That philosophy has guided us from the beginning.

I’m also proud that, during these three years, I’ve continued investing in the profession—serving in bar leadership, pursuing advanced forensic training, speaking on criminal-law issues, and maintaining my certification as a Board Certified Criminal Law specialist by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

On a personal level, I also want to thank my wife and my children for supporting this endeavor from the very beginning.

Building a law firm takes time, attention, and sacrifice, and there have been plenty of nights, weekends, and family moments when that has meant I’m on my laptop working, preparing for a case, answering a client, or handling something that simply could not wait.

Their patience, encouragement, and support have made it possible for me to do this work, and I do not take that for granted.

None of this would have been possible without my family, our clients, our staff, the attorneys and professionals who have supported us, and the people who have referred their friends and family to our firm.
